Global platform links users of CAE systems to suppliers

08 March, 2022

The German engineering software specialist Eplan has launched a global service that brings together users of its CAE (computer-aided engineering) software with service providers such as panel-builders and consultants. Called the Eplan Marketplace, the Web-based platform allows Eplan users to search for providers that offer services related to their applications.

Until now, Eplan’s sales operation has helped users to make contact with potential suppliers. The new platform is designed to simplify and speed up the search process.

“We want our customers around the world to be successful,” says Eplan’s senior vice-president for strategy and corporate programmes, Marco Litto.

The Marketplace is split into three sectors:
• the Engineering Services sector, including services such as creating schematics, hardware design or setting up device data;
• the Module Manufacturing service sector, covering services in control cabinet engineering, panel building, cabling assembly and creating wire harnesses; and
General Consulting, which includes service providers who advise customers in the fields of ERP, PLM or software development for applications such as PLCs.

Users can filter potential service providers by searching the type of services they are seeking, the region in which they are operating, or the CAE software they are using. They can then contact the suppliers directly via the platform.

Service providers can register for the service free of charge. They need proven qualifications, such as having employees who have trained to become Eplan Certified Engineers, as well as an evaluation from at least one reference client. Eplan managers will then validate the provider and their qualifications, and, if successful, list the company in the Marketplace. The listing and its use are also free of charge.

Eplan Marketplace will link CAE users with suppliers around the world

Users can send an inquiry to a service provider via a contact form. Services are agreed and invoiced outside of the Marketplace. Feedback can be left on the platform to help others to choose service providers.

So far, around 60 small and medium-sized enterprises have been listed in the Marketplace and Eplan is planning to add more.
