Device can implement CIP Security even on older systems

Rockwell Automation has announced a device that allows industrial companies to implement the CIP Security protocol on most devices on a network, helping to protect their operations – even when using older systems. The Allen-Bradley CIP Security Proxy device works with EtherNet/IP-compliant devices to provide security for an entire network.
Traditionally, industrial networks had little-to-no built-in security. CIP Security is part of a defence-in-depth strategy, developed by ODVA, that can help defend against remote cyber-attacks on networks. It can provide security for single devices, adding a layer of security that can help protect systems against cyber-attackers attempting to sabotage equipment, steal recipes, or upload new programs.
The proxy device allows users with non-CIP Security-embedded products to define and implement a migration path to a CIP Security architecture. It also offers a path for non-CIP Security-capable products.
The easy-to-use, standalone hardware device is configured using Rockwell’s FactoryTalk Policy Manager software and FactoryTalk system services. It also supports motion for Kinetix drives and offers a Web server for viewing diagnostics. The device offers secure event generation syslog support, and includes rotary switches for 192.168.1.xyz IP addressing.

The device contains three one-gigabit EtherNet/IP ports and can operate in temperatures from –25° to +70°C.
