Invertek launches recruitment drive as sales hit a record

12 April, 2021

The Welsh drives-maker Invertek has launched a recruitment drive following a double-digit increase in sales during 2020, and record figures for the first quarter of 2021. The company – which was acquired by Sumitomo Heavy Industries in 2019 – is planning to expand its innovation and manufacturing departments.

“2020 was a remarkable year for us,” says sales and marketing director, Rhydian Welson. “Despite the global challenges, demand for our Optidrive VFDs rose throughout the year. Already in 2021, we have surpassed previous records set in our 22-year history.”

Invertek claims that it has been able to meet orders continuously over the past year despite the global shortage in electronics components and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Throughout this we have fulfilled all customer orders, including those via our two-day express service,” says Weslon. “We’ve demonstrated how our approach to holding a strategic stock of components used in production ensures our ability to maintain production no matter what the global conditions are.”

Invertek wants to expand the workforce at its global headquarters in Wales

Invertek’s 5,500m2 manufacturing and distribution facility, which it opened at its Welshpool headquarters in 2019, has the capacity to produce up to 400,000 drives a year. Manufacturing has continued throughout the Covid-19 pandemic with health and safety procedures implemented to protect employees.

Invertek only builds drives to order, supplying a global network of sales partners. Stock is maintained locally in more than 80 countries and production is targeted where there is demand.

“Production has continually increased and we’re looking to add production operatives to our dedicated team,” Welson reports. “We’re currently undertaking a recruitment drive as part of our ongoing investment and expansion in all parts of the business.

“Our innovation team is also growing as we design and develop the next generation of VFD technology, and we have several positions currently available for experienced technicians and engineers.
