Stainless-steel servo gearboxes come with 5-year warranties

21 October, 2019

At the PPMA show earlier this month, Uttoxeter-based Apex Dynamics UK made its public debut with a range of servo gearboxes that it claims are the first in the world to come with a five-year warranty. The portfolio includes a series of stainless-steel, planetary servo gearboxes that it describes as “a game-changer for the food, pharmaceutical, packaging and automation sectors,” partly because they do not cost much more than standard steel boxes.

Apex Dynamics is the exclusive UK distributor for the Taiwanese precision gearbox-maker of the same name – but is not a subsidiary.

Founded in 1987, the Taiwanese company started by producing take-out robots for plastics injection-moulding machines, before expanding into rack-and-pinion systems and precision planetary gearboxes for servomotors. Its products are capable of backlash accuracies down to less than one arc-minute, as well as being designed for easy cleaning and sterilising.

As well as the long warranty, Apex says it offering the shortest lead times in th sector, with deliveries possible in three weeks or less. If necessary, it  airfreights products in from Taiwan. According to Apex Dynamics UK’s managing director, Mike Gulliford, lead times in the sector are typically 15 weeks or longer.

In addition, he claims that the company stocks the largest range of drop-in replacements for other manufacturers, “as well as the widest range of gearbox ratios”.

The new stainless-steel planetary servo gearboxes are available in in-line or right-angle versions, and aspects of the gearboxes and bearings are patented, enhancing their performance in food-grade applications.

Apex is also offering other products, including racks, pinions, and right-angle helical and spiral-bevel gearboxes.
