Tiny industrial PC has a built-in UPS

09 May, 2018

At the recent Hannover Fair, Beckhoff unveiled the latest in its series of tiny industrial PCs – this time with an onboard one-second capacitive UPS (uninterruptible power supply), designed to store data in the event of a power failure.

The new C6017 PC is based on the existing C6015 model – Beckhoff’s smallest – but has two extra RJ-45 and two USB 2.0 interfaces. The resulting device measures 82 x 82 x 66mm, making it 24mm taller than the C6015. Like the C6015, the new PC is passively cooled and is powered by an Intel Atom processor with up to four cores.

Beckhoff reports that the success of the C6015 (which it launched at the 2016 SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Germany) quickly created demand for a mini industrial PC that offered more connections, as well as data security in the event of a power supply failure. The C6017 was developed to satisfy this demand.

Like the C6015, it has a rugged aluminium and zinc die-cast housing, and includes a DisplayPort connection, a dual Ethernet adapter with two 100/1000Base-T connections, as well as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. It has added the two RJ-45 and two extra USB 2.0 interfaces.
