€7.4m software r&d centre doubles Pilz’s presence in Ireland

28 March, 2018

The industrial safety and automation specialist Pilz has opened a €7.4m software development centre in Cork, Ireland, where it will develop engineering tools used to plan, design, program and visualise automation systems. The centre, which will house 120 employees in Pilz’s software product research and development division, doubles the size of the company’s campus on the Cork Business and Technology Park.

The three-storey, 2,500m2 facility will allow Pilz to expand its automation portfolio, while developing technologies for the Internet of Things (IoT), analytics and Software as a Service (SaaS) applications. The site also houses Pilz’s International Services Group, Global Account Management team and Pilz Ireland Industrial Automation.

Speaking at the opening, Pilz’s managing partner, Thomas Pilz, said: “Pilz is committed to remaining at the forefront of innovation, and this new centre at our Irish operation showcases that vision. Coupled with the milestone of 20 years of Pilz in Ireland, today marks a new step for the company in Cork as we scale and grow.”

Pilz has a corporate vision of being a global provider of products, systems and services covering all aspects of automation, and driving the smart factories of the fourth industrial revolution, by 2025.
