Siemens’ smallest-ever drive is 68mm wide
Siemens has announced its smallest-ever frequency converter – a 68mm-wide and 142mm-high device for ratings up to 0.75kW. The latest addition to the Sinamics V20 family is available in two depths: an 108mm-deep version (FS AA frame size) in 0.12, 0.25 and 0.37kW ratings; and a 128mm-deep version (FS AB frame size) in 0.55 and 0.75kW ratings, for single-phase 230V operation. The new drives will be unveiled at the Hannover Fair this month.
Optional integrated C1 EMC filters will allow the converters to be used in residential and commercial environments in compliance with DIN EN 61800-3. They are suitable for industrial applications, such as pumps, fans, compressors and conveyor systems, as well as for residential and business applications – such as refrigerated counters, fitness equipment, ventilation systems and commercial washing machines.
Commissioning and operation are said to be simple. A “keep running” mode allows continuous operation, even with fluctuating supply voltages. An improved cooling concept and coated printed-circuit boards provide electrical and mechanical ruggedness, allowing use in harsh conditions. The frequency converters can be connected to higher-level controllers via a built-in Modbus RTU/USS interface.
The Sinamics V20 range now covers seven frame sizes, spanning ratings from 0.12–30kW, for operation on 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase supplies.
