Datalogging software captures and stores PLC data

25 September, 2014

The German automation specialist Deltalogic has announced a software-based datalogger that can read and store data from a variety of PLCs made by Siemens and Sigmatek.

The Accon-EasyLog software can operate without any user action, allowing it to run run as a background service on a server where it will not be switched off by mistake.

The datalogging can be driven either by time or events. Data is saved in the CSV format and any number of these files can be stored in parallel in different locations.

The software is said to offer several advantages over its predecessor (Accon-S7-EasyLog). For example, it includes wizard-driven parameterisation, the ability to output I/O values as well as text, and the use of “virtual variables” from the PLC values.

New functions include simple export and import of parameters from one computer to another. The datalogger now allows universal data sources and different configurations to be operated simultaneously from the one program.

Deltalogic is planning to develop the software further to allow data to be saved in a SQL database, and to display the history of the recorded data as graphical trends.

The software can capture data from Siemens’ Logo!, S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, S7-1500 controllers, as well as Sigmatek automation systems. It runs on Windows XP, 7, 8.1, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2 operating systems.
