Austrian automation manufacturer sets up shop in the UK

29 July, 2014

The Austrian automation manufacturer Sigmatek has set up a UK subsidiary to supply and support machine automation systems, mainly to the OEM sector. Russ Kemp, who has more than 25 years experience of the automation sector, has been appointed managing director of the new Sigmatek Automation UK business, located in Nottingham.

Initially, the UK business will focus on the packaging, printing and converting machine markets. Other areas being targeted include robotics, handling equipment, plastics, labeling and cutting machinery. The aim is to serve UK machine and plant builders quickly and locally.

Sigmatek, founded in 1988, employs more than 400 people at its Salzburg headquarters, and it has a presence in Germany, Switzerland, the US and China. About half of the company’s staff work in research and development and it invests about 18% of its annual sales in r&d.
