4:3 displays can be converted into Panel PCs

02 April, 2014

The Austrian automation manufacturer B&R has announced a second generation of displays in a 4:3 format with single-touch operation. Because the Automation Panels are part of B&R's modular system platform, they can be combined with a CPU module to create a panel PC with scalable performance up to Intel Core i7 levels.

The panels can be equipped with a Smart Display Link 3 receiver that allows them to be installed up to 100m away from an automation PC. The link transmits data over a standard Ethernet cable, with RJ-45 connectors allowing routing through tight openings.

The displays’ 4:3 format means that they are compatible with existing systems, without having to sacrifice modern features such as LED backlighting. They are available in 12.1" and 15" versions with XGA resolution, and 19" panels with SXGA resolution. The 12.1" version can replace existing 10.4" panels if a higher resolution is desired.

B&R's new Automation Panels retain the traditional 4:3 format

The LED backlighting offers a wide adjustment range, and can be dimmed for use in environments with low light levels.
