More than 500 exhibitors line up for MACH show

27 January, 2014

The 2014 MACH manufacturing technologies exhibition will have at least 15% more exhibitors than were at its previous outing in 2012. The show’s organiser, the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), says that one of the show’s two halls is already sold out, and that more space has been booked in the second (Hall 4) than in 2012.

Interest from potential visitors is also high, with 22% more people having pre-registered to attend the show than at the same time before the 2012 event.

“There’s a buzz around UK manufacturing that we haven’t felt for a long time, and MACH is a vital part of that,” says MTA director-general, Graham Dewhurst.

MACH will run alongside the Drives & Controls Show and other engineering and industrial events at the Birmingham NEC in April. The MTA is predicting that there will be more than 500 exhibitors, including around 150 that weren’t at the 2010 or 2012 events. Some of these will be first-time exhibitors, but others are returning after dropping out in the aftermath of the recession.

The organisers calculate that there will be around 6,500 tonnes of working machinery at the show. There will also be demonstrations of emerging technologies, such as 3D printing. For the first time several major OEMs – including Rolls-Royce and Airbus – will be taking part in the show, exhibiting alongside their supply chain partners.
