Control Techniques plans new £1.5m development centre

08 July, 2013

Control Techniques is planning to expand its global headquarters and research and product development centre in Newtown, Wales, with the potential to create 40 new full-time engineering and design jobs.

The project is being supported by the Welsh Government which is investing £1.5m in the construction of a new 900m² engineering and design facility that will be leased to CT.

The new facility is needed as a result of the drives-maker's continuing global expansion. The Emerson subsidiary is currently upgrading its entire product line and the new space will be occupied by engineering teams dedicated to product design.

The new jobs at Control Techniques will go primarily to skilled engineering and design staff. If the scheme goes ahead, it will secure Newtown as the centre of Control Techniques’ global business. “Newtown remains a vital part of our global operation and is a cost-effective and attractive location for our HQ,” says CT president, Enrique Miñarro Viseras.

Expanding: Control Techniques' existing engineering design centre

The proposed building will be sympathetic to its natural surroundings as well as being sustainable and highly energy-efficient. Subject to planning permission, construction could start this autumn, with completion expected in the summer of 2014.
