Safety light curtains offer more choices

08 July, 2013

Leuze has introduced a range of light curtains that offers users a choice of three function types (basic, standard and extended), as well a choice between type 2 or 4 devices. It says that this means that users can choose the MLC curtain that offers the precise functions needed for an application.

These functions include automatic start/restart (for the basic version), integrated start/restart interlock and contactor monitoring functions (for the standard version) and muting, blanking (fixed/floating) and three scan modes (for the extended version). The functions are configured via electrical connections, avoiding the need for PC programming or setting DIP switches.

The slim (29 x 35mm), but sturdy, curtains have recessed and bonded front screens, reinforced sidewalls and metal end-caps. Installation is made easy by the use of M12 connectors plus a variety of mounting options such as swivel brackets and removable circular end-cap mounts, which allow simple assembly and flush mechanical installation without dead zones. Installation and com-missioning times for the standard and extended versions are reduced by using seven-segment displays and built-in laser alignment functions.

Leuze's MLC light curtains are available in three versions and two safety types

The light curtains can be used vertically for hand and finger protection or horizontally for access guarding. Resolutions of 14, 20, 30, 40 and 90mm and protected field heights from 150mm–3m are available.
