Encoder-free IP55 drives can be wall-mounted

25 April, 2013

SEW-Eurodrive has developed a decentralised frequency inverter for controlling the speeds of asynchronous and synchronous motors without an encoder. The IP55-protected Movitrac LTP-B drive can be wall-mounted, even in difficult ambient conditions.

The IP55 drives come in six sizes spanning ratings from 0.75–160kW. An cabinet-mounting IP20 version is also available, in ratings from 0.75–11kW.

An energy-saving function for asynchronous motors lowers the magnetisation current in part-load operation, thus boosting efficiency.

The inverters can be connected to Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP EtherCat or Modbus/TCP via gateways and SEW’s Movi-PLC controller.

Built-in functions include flying starts, a PID controller and a “fire mode” function for HVAC applications. The inverters support the STO safety function and comply with SIL 2 and PL d. EMC filters are built in, while an external IP55-protected full-text operating device is available as an option.
