Drive hitches a ride on a motor

18 December, 2012

Danfoss has developed a motor-mounting frequency converter that can drive both asynchronous motors and permanent magnet motors in the power range 0.55–22kW. The VLT Drive Motor FCM 106 is available either as part of a combined motor-and-drive package, or separately for users to mount on their own motors.

The converter’s integrated cooling and adjustable adapter plate allows it to be used with a wide range of motors. It can also replace Danfoss’ earlier FCM 300 motor-mounting drive.

The robust drive, available in IP55 and IP66 versions, is designed to withstand wide temperature fluctuations, heavy vibrations, and high levels of dirt and moisture. It incorporates an energy optimisation function, and can support communications protocols including Modbus and BACnet.
