Fluke Networks has announced a tool that automates network troubleshooting, allowing most common problems to be identified within a minute. It claims that the device can save an organisation, on average, about one man-week of troubleshooting every month.

Normally, it can take technicians more than an hour to solve network connection and performance problems using a variety of tools, including protocol analysers, PC utilities, and cable and network testers. The new OneTouch AT tester combines those functions into a single, customisable, handheld tool with a graphical touchscreen interface and a one-button auto-test function.
 
The rugged instrument can be used to test 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, as well as copper or fibre Gigabit Ethernet systems. It can also be used for cable wire mapping, Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and link testing, and for network and service performance analyses. Standardised, automated test scripts allow even novice users to troubleshoot problems.
