Sir Bobby kicks off the Drives show

Footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton will officially open the forthcoming Drives & Controls, Electrex and AirTech exhibitions at the NEC.

The exhibitions open their doors to visitors at 10am on 16 May. Sir Bobby (above) will then open the proceedings officially at 12 noon in the VIP lounge, before visiting several exhibitors on their stands and chatting with visitors.

Each day during the show, two pairs of VIP tickets to a premiership match at Old Trafford, together with England shirts signed by Sir Bobby, will be given away in a prize draw. To enter the draw, visitors will have to place their business card or details in a box on the exhibition stands of prize draw sponsors, Upower and Tempa Pano. Only visitors who attend the exhibitions in person will be eligible to enter the draw. On the opening day, Sir Bobby will pick the winning entries in person.

The event will see the coming together of all the major UK manufacturing and engineering trade shows for the first time. Up to 40,000 visitors are expected to attend the shows, including the other co-located events - MACH, Subcon and Product Development.

Exhibitors that have recently joined the Drives Show line-up include Megadyne, Rexnord, SEM, Minitec, LG Motion, Lamonde Automation, Lockwell, Water Hydraulics, Morganite, Lumberg and Tecan.
