• The engineering and manufacturing group South Bank UK has bought the Hayward Tyler Group in a £16m transaction. Luton-based Hayward Tyler produces specialised motors and pumps for the power generation industry, including fluid-filled motors up to 5MW, and wet and dry stator motors. It has manufacturing sites in the UK and US, and servicing facilities in China and India.

• In a buyout at Rotherham-based Acorn Industrial Services, sales director Des Spillings and finance director Martin Powey, have bought the company from former owner, Eric Baines. Acorn, which supplies bearings, seals and power transmission products, has an £8m turnover, and branches in Birmingham, Newcastle, Cumbria and Scotland.

• Wolverhampton-based International Motion Control (IMC) has bought the Californian solenoid valve manufacturer Evolutionary Concepts and plans to merge it with Alcon Solenoids. IMC also owns Midland-ACS and Landon Kingsway.
