Ultrasonic meter detects bearing wear

Detectaids has developed a portable ultrasonic emission meter for duties such as monitoring wear in bearings and the condition of industrial plant. The T1000 Ultrasound Emissions Detector is designed both for safety inspections and for preventive maintenance applications.

The instrument, which has a 90m range, can be used to monitor fluid leakages and high-voltage discharges and to test the integrity of enclosure seals. It is said to use an unique method for acquiring, amplifying and filtering signals. By amplifying the signal, the meter can focus on a specific frequency range, making it easier to analyse problems than when using broadband systems. It can acquire intermittent events for later analysis. For more permanent monitoring, a multipoint version capable of monitoring up to 100 probes around a plant, is available.
