Inverter drives down energy bills

Mitsubishi has launched a new energy-saving frequency converter, designed to save power and costs in applications such as pumps and fans. The FR-F700, covering output ratings from 0.75-560kW, incorporates a technology known as "optimisation excitation control" which is said to combine maximum drive utilisation with minimal power consumption.

The drive (above) has been designed for high reliability and monitors its on-board components closely. Unlike its forerunners, which used footprint filters, the FR-F700 has built-in filters, emphasising its compact size.

An IP54 version with ratings up to 90kW is planned, which will allow the drive to be used without extra protection in exposed applications..

Other items launched by Mitsubishi at Hannover included higher power versions of its Super Servo amplifiers and motors, and a new process visualisation software package.
