Servo amp is `as small as a matchbox`
Copley Controls is launching a digital servo amplifier not much larger than a matchbox. The Accelnet Micro amp is small enough to be mounted near the motors in multi-axis applications, cutting wiring costs and minimising the risk of RFI (radio frequency interference).
The 63.5mm by 40.6mm board accepts ±10V analogue control signals for torque and velocity control operations, and also has digital PWM inputs for single-axis applications. Step and direction inputs will allow OEMs to use fast, high-power brushless servomotors instead of steppers, Copley suggests.
The DSP-based drive has a CANopen interface for digital communications. It can be mounted on a PCB. Windows-based software tunes the drive automatically to a motor, while indexing tools allow motion control applications to be created "in minutes".
The amplifiers can deliver 3A continuous (6A peak) at 20-50V, or 2A continuous (4A peak) at 20-90V.
