The long-awaited WEEE Regulations (waste electronic and electrical equipment) came into force on 2 January. Under the legislation, UK producers will have to take financial responsibility for their products at the end of their useful lives, and will have to register under an approved Producer Compliance scheme by 15 March. The legislation will be implemented on 15 July.

Sheffield-based systems integrator CSE-Servelec Group, has acquired the Scottish systems integrator Scomagg, which provides services to the oil and gas, power generation, utility, and food and beverage markets. Scomagg, which employs around 100 people at three sites in Scotland and England, is expected to boost CSE Servelec`s £17m-plus turnover by around 40%.

Crawley-based KC Group has merged its KC Controls business with its KC Instrumentation Products operation to form a single company, to be known as KC Controls..
