Danfoss quits Perivale after 20 years

Danfoss is leaving its Perivale, West London, premises where it has been based for 20 years. The new headquarters for the drives business is the Winsford, Cheshire, site of the Bauer geared motors operation that Danfoss bought in 1999 to form Danfoss Bauer.

A southern office will be established in new purpose-built premises in Denham, near Perivale. The Sauer Danfoss hydraulics business will continue to be based in Swindon.

According to Danfoss Bauer sales director, Malcolm Staff, the Winsford site has room for assembly and manufacturing operations, and space to expand if necessary. He says that there will be a single sales force and a single technical support operation for both the drives and gearmotors operations.

"Bringing together the two cultures has been a challenge," he admits, but it means that the company`s 60-strong team can now help customers "from the fuse to the shaft". The aim has been to create "rounded sales people, with a specialist skill in either motors or inverters".
