BSL teams up with Dowding & MIlls

Dowding & Mills and BSL have formed an alliance that, they say, makes them jointly the number one supplier of engineering service and products in the UK. The alliance will focus on customers looking for a single source of engineering services and products, with the two sales forces promoting each other`s services.

"Our companies are a perfect strategic fit and jointly we can approach the market with a nationwide and integrated service," says D&M chief executive Martin Hapgood. "The market has been crying out for a service like ours that can provide the maximum number of services from a single point of contact."

Lawrence Jackson, BSL`s chief executive, adds that "jointly, Dowding & Mills and BSL can remove the hassle of maintaining manufacturing assets, allowing customers to concentrate on what they do best".

D&M claims to be the UK`s leading supplier of engineering maintenance services, with more than 1,900 employees operating from 38 sites. BSL describes itself as the number one provider of industrial engineering products in the UK, with more than 900 employees and more than 100 sales branches.

• Brian Gibbon, managing director of Dowding & Mills Engineering Services, has been appointed president of the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT) for 2002. The AEMT represents the interests of more than 170 companies involved in the repair, reconditioning and supply of industrial electrical and mechanical machinery.
