Drives trio targets global OEMs

16 November, 2011

At this month’s SPS/IPC/Drives show in Germany, the Finnish drives-maker Vacon is unveiling three new families of compact AC drives, designed to meet the needs of global OEMs. The new drives are quick to install and easy to set up, and can be modified and tailored to suit the user.

The three families (shown above) are:
♦  a new version of the existing Vacon 10 series, spanning the power range 0.25–5.5 kW, with a redesigned user interface and extra functions;
  the new Vacon 20, in ratings from 0.25–18.5kW, which offers PLC functions conforming to IEC 61131-3, and can be extended using option modules such as fieldbus cards, and tools to copy parameters easily from one drive to another; and
   the new Vacon 20 Cold Plate, in ratings from 0.75–7.5kW, which has the same functions as the Vacon 20 and will allow OEMs to optimise the cooling of their drives.

“Original equipment manufacturers are an important customer segment for Vacon`s growth and success,” says Vacon’s executive vice-president, Heikki Hiltunen. “In 2010, more than 25% of our sales came from this segment. We have seen many times that when our customers succeed in their own fields, we also succeed. It`s a question of partnership.
