Photoelectric switch is `world`s fastest`

18 December, 2009

Sick claims to have developed the world’s fastest fibre-optic photoelectric switch, which has a response time of just 16µs. The WLL180T sensor’s high resolution and light intensity are also said to set new benchmarks for range and functional reserves, allowing the sensor to operate reliably in dusty or misty environments.

The sensor can be set up directly or via an external teach input from a controller. Programming steps, status indications and parameter values are shown on two four-digit displays. The sensor can operate as a standalone device or via a bus connection that allows parameters to be exchanged with other equipment.
