Servomotors are `half the length`

02 November, 2009

At this month’s SPS/IPC/Drives show in Germany, Stober is unveiling a range of “super-short” servomotors which, it asserts, offer the optimum performance in relation to power density, efficiency and precision. The high power density is achieved using an optimum copper filling factor for the stator windings, making it possible to reduce the length to almost half that of conventional designs.

With a newly calculated structural design of the motor components and many other enhancements, the EZ series servomotors are said to offer a balance between powerful torque, high dynamic performance and precise constant speed.

The motors are available initially available in three sizes and in five lengths (in 25mm steps), related to the number of rotor segments. They can be supplied with hollow shafts for mounting a pinion for direct attachment to Stober’s SMS servo geared motors. A version with a continuous through-bore hollow shaft is available for the some models.

The motors can be fitted with various types of encoder and brakes. A further option is integrated liquid cooling.
