IGBT modules are `most powerful available`

04 July, 2009

Semikron has developed a new generation of intelligent IGBT power modules which, it claims, are the most powerful available and 33% more powerful than their predecessors.

The SKiiP4 modules (above) will allow the development of more powerful or smaller frequency converters. Potential applications include industrial drives, elevators and traction systems, rated from 400kW–1.8MW.

♦  Semikron has formed a 50:50 joint venture with the automotive electronics supplier, Magna Electronics, to develop and produce power electronics for electric and hybrid vehicle applications.
