• Silverteam, the recently formed UK agent for Hitachi drives and automation equipment, has moved into premises in Great Yarmouth that include offices, a warehouse, and system building and training facilities. The company is looking for partners to help launch Hitachi`s servo drive range in the UK and to take its IP54 inverters into the building automation sector. The DTI has awarded ERA Technology a contract to investigate the ways in which manufacturers can demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. The directive, which comes into force in July 2006, will restrict the use of six hazardous materials in new electrical and electronic products.

• LaMonde Research, the Redhill-based distributor of automation and control equipment, has changed its name to LaMonde Automation. The company was formed in 1994 as PLC Direct, working with the US company of the same name.

• Eaton Electrical has formed a specialist electrical services division providing services from maintenance to turnkey installations, for low and high voltage systems up to 132kV. Eaton Electrical Services & Systems will perform protection studies, system design and installation, and will offer training.
