Work starts on a new £3m HQ for Fortress

29 October, 2007

Work has started on a new £3m headquarters for the Wolverhampton-based safety interlocking specialists, Fortress Interlocks. Due for completion in March 2008, the 2,800m2 premises at Monmore Grange Estate will include a two-storey office building, and a production and warehouse facility designed to enhance work practices and to provide an improved working environment for the company’s 56 employees.

Fortress MD Mike Golding

Fortress, which was established more than 40 years ago, has been based on Birmingham New Road since 1985. According to managing director Mike Golding (above), the relocation will pave the way for future expansion. "The move to our new headquarters is one of the major milestones in the transformation of the Fortress business from a small Black Country engineering company to a global supplier of industrial interlocking products," he says.

Fortress designs and manufactures specialist safety interlocking equipment for potentially hazardous workplaces. It was recently received a Queen`s Awards for Enterprise for its range of modular interlocks which can be adapted to changing circumstances.
