Phoenix becomes Siemens` sole source of terminal blocks

01 August, 2005

Phoenix Contact will become the sole supplier of terminal blocks and overvoltage protection products to Siemens Automation and Drives under a deal agreed recently by the two companies. The "strategic partnership", also gives Phoenix a 25% share in Siemens` Eviop Tempo production plant in Greece. The financial details of the deal have not been released.

According to Frank, Stührenberg, Phoenix Contact`s sales manager, the agreement will allow Phoenix to strengthen its global market position and "provide us with a new production location in the growth market of south-eastern Europe". For Siemens, the deal will expand the range of products it can offer its customers.

As well as making terminal blocks, the Greek plant produces circuit breakers, fuses and modular installation devices.
