Reliance disengages its gear

Reliance Gear has changed its name to Reliance Precision, and set up a new sister company, Reliance Precision Mechatronics LLP, to handle the distribution of its standard products. The family-owned business, which is marking its 50th anniversary, argues that the original name has become a misnomer because the company has offered far more than gears for many years.

The new name is also designed to reflect the Huddersfield-based company`s commitment to quality and reliability.

Over the years, Reliance has moved deliberately into a specialist instrumentation market and now supplies precision motion control components and mechatronic assemblies.

The new distribution company will focus on supporting standard catalogue customers, as well as those requiring mechatronic sub-assemblies. A team of dedicated design engineers will support customers and help to develop turnkey mechatronic systems. New product ranges - including motors, miniature actuators, and leadscrew-based assemblies - are planned, as is an online shop.
