Published:  04 August, 1999

GE Fanuc Automation has bought the privately owned servo and stepping motor controls specialist Whedco for an undisclosed sum.

"Whedco`s leading-edge technology with `networkable` controller/amplifier packages adds a new dimension to GE Fanuc`s Open Control initiative," says Nicholas Gihl, senior vice-president of GE Fanuc`s controller and I/O business. "The ability to connect an extremely powerful servo controller on DeviceNet provides our customers with tremendous flexibility."

Ed Amonsen, president of Michigan-based Whedco says that the partnership will give Whedco "an unparalleled opportunity to expand its position as a pre-eminent supplier of best-in-class servo and stepping motor control systems".
