Modules combine control and switching functions

02 May, 2024

At the 2024 Hannover Messe show, Phoenix Contact unveiled a modular device that combines the roles of controller and a switching device. The PLC logic modules can be easily and securely integrated into higher-level automation systems using a built-in RS-485 interface that allows easy integration into Modbus/RTU networks.

Decentralised access to the PLC logic process data is easy to implement for remote control, diagnostics and visualisation, and can be configured via a Web-based management system.

The rail-mounting PLC logic modules act as devices for higher-level automation systems The basic distributed configuration has 16 I/Os, while full configurations consist of two extension modules and up to 48 I/Os. The Phoenix Contact modules support independent control ensuring that local application will continue to function, even if Modbus communications are lost.
